The Land

It is from a calcareous and skeleton rich soil that our white Vigne Nuove derives. We are producing it in the vineyards of Capestrano, 400 m a.s.l., in a territory known for the very high temperatures reached during the summer days and for the Gran Sasso droughts that assure constant ventilation during great part of the day. Thanks to this climate, the grapes of our vineyards are able to reach the full maturation typical for warm regions, yet maintaining a significant and important aromatic profile and an excellent health condition of the grapes, indispensable for the attainment of a quality product. The temperature ranges complete this picture of a grape that, maintaining correct and pleasant acidic levels next to a good sugar gradation, is suitable for obtaining a white wine of great value.

The vineyard

The vineyards planted with Trebbiano are the youngest among the ones in Valle Reale. They were planted in 2002. These vineyards are trained with the Guyot system, with a density of approx 6700 plants per hectare. The managing of the vines during the vegetative season is lead with the aim of preserving the photosynthesis-barrier, thus maintaining the health of the bunches whilst protecting them from an excessive exposure to the sun. The harvest of the grapes is carried out manually as soon as the grapes reach the correct analytical conditions, generally during the last days of September.

The Wine

The ripeness and health of the Trebbiano grapes allow a short maceration of approx 12 hours in steel tanks at low temperatures. The aim is to extract such substances from the grapes, able to increase the value of the final product, conferring to the wine importance and richness. The fermentation is very slow since the temperature is kept between 14 and 16 C° for nearly forty days. At this temperature and thanks to skin maceration, the Trebbiano is able to express very particular olfactory notes that recall citrus and white flowers. At the taste, you’ll discover fullness and a body rightly supported by acidity. The result is a well balanced wine with an immediate and pleasant drinkability.
